Update: in the Quicken (Mac) app, in the Quicken menu, there is an option to Enter Activation Code. When I do that, it takes me to an "Activate Quicken" dialog box that lets me enter a 16-digit code....

Same question -- but thank you @eibyer_sd for the tip. Looking at quicken.com I don't see any place to enter a code or serial or anything like that (from the box you would get from OfficeMax).
