Mine arrived today. These are NOT air tight, so storing pellets in them in the garage/outside may NOT be a good idea. If you live in an area with high humidity and/or large swings in temp / humidity.

Home Depot sells this without the transparent bottom (it's dark blue or black) for $13 and they work great for smoker pellets.

That is my method as well but doubt the people complaining care enough about that setup either.
Although that setup is air/leak proof. I don’t know how well these are. Also prefer a bucket handle...

why would the bucket need to be food safe.
if you are so serious about this the real solution is a zinc metal bucket/can with lid aka a garbage can. no plastic fumes at all!

I’ve just been using 5 gallon buckets from Home Depot.. works great with the buckethead vacuum ($25) since you can just suck out pellets from the hopper right into the bucket when you want to change...
