I got these on a whim from this slickdeals offer...they sound excellent. I'm used to using Bluetooth now (xm4s) and while wireless has its own advantages, these sound incredible for music.

It's hard to say, since it's about what you prefer. The er3xr is going to have more bass, but less treble than the er4xr. I find that I usually prefer the er4xr as the er3xr is a bit less detailed...

I just bought ER4XR for $129.99. How does ER3XR compare with ER4XR? Should I return and buy this instead if price isn't the decision factor?

ER2XR has a more pronounced bass than ER3XR. However, since 3XR has more clarity, bass is more discernable.

I think so. The housing is 60% the diameter of a normal earphone. They do fit really deep though.

The aria's have more sub bass and more treble while the midrange/vocals are near identical. I really like both, but the aria is gonna probably please more non-audiophile's who might not like how...

There are definitely different types of "earphones". Just like shoes, they are designed slightly differently to meet different needs. Musicians vs. casual listening, for example.

Etymotics are neutral earbuds. The Studio models (SE) are very neutral. The XRs have elevated bass, but nowhere near the levels you see in your standard earbuds. If you want something that accurately...
