I think it also depends on when the refills stations get serviced. We had some funny tasting water, and starting noticing the inspection dates on the machines

I could see rigging up a bottle in the bottom with a float valve hooked in. Basically think of it like the top of your toilet tank. Whenever the water level gets low it'll automatically top off....
