I disagree. I would buy a razor hoverboard and store it 6 months with out any reservation. I would NOT do that with the cheap knock-off Chinese brands though. The razor products source higher...

I have not ridden anything other then this brand, so I can't answer that. But I wouldn't hesitate to jump on a cheap one if provided the opportunity.
