First off, the performance gains are 15-20% overall, not 30%. Second, that's about 2 intel generations. The knock against intel is power consumption (and associated heat) - not performance.

The upgrade from 3000 series Ryzen to 5000 series is equivalent to 5 entire generations of Intel improvements. You have no idea what you are talking about.

Too much for who?
Depends how much you have, how much your time is worth, and how much time is saved with a faster setup. For many people, it can easily be worth it.

In the years long switching of roles of the companies, AMD users are now the ones willing to throw away way too much cash on incremental improvements.
