Seems some models are from vietnam (for example the King series) but the Astley is indeed china.

I saw a 65 piece set, the Ashley, at Amazon for $67.99, good reviews. Another set which looked nicer, I thought, for $75.99 for 65 pieces. Edit for autocorrect - the Astley, not Ashley.

We had the same set (actually 2 sets) and same exact issue with the knives! Gave it away and bought a Wedgwood set with better balance. Too bad because the bellasera was very nice looking

Bellasera. The knife is designed weirdly. It flies all over the place. A flying knife + tomato sauce + carpet is a bad combo.
