Well, we had a power outage last night and inspite of the flashlight not having an "adjustable head" it illuminated any room we brought it in without issue.

That's a very good point. I got one of those supposedly higher end "Braun" lights from Harbor Freight that developed a loose connection shortly after the 90-day warranty expired.

If they removed the LED strip there would be no lamp to go bad. I could go on but you get the gist. If a product is well made then the hinge should last.

This does not have a adjustable head which limits its usefulness, especially when using the magnetic base.
