As someone else mentioned, I'm using the included POE injectors and they are not limiting my connection to 100mb. I have 300mb cable internet and can regularly get over 300mbps on 5ghz.

I had the opposite experience. I have two EAP245 APs with the harware controller using an ER-X and a Cisco 2960 PoE switch running four vlans and never had the first issue.

No you'll need to run cat5e or 6 since these are POE. Look elsewhere if you don't want to bother with running cable.
