Most professionals doing complicated installs that need more than 7 wires will run through strapping, which is enough room for hundreds of 12AWG wires between most any span. Furthermore, you can fit...

Too much mud slinging. It seems pretty simple...the 12 gauge is on sale at a good price. It can be used in wall. There is no need to use 14 gauge when you can use 12 gauge at a good price....

Cat6 is 18 AWG. No matter how well it's shielded, that's too thin for speakers.

Wow this thread is a disaster. I've used this wire(16-12 ga) before in and out of the walls and I really like it. I would buy a couple rolls of this if i was ready to build my home theater. If...

That's actually not a bad idea. UTP cables use twisted pairs to mitigate interference, they are usually resilient during installation, and being Category 6 suggests they have frequency ratings.

Unless it picks up interference from power cables or other sources of EMI. Thin wires can be just fine but usually you'd want to use twisted pairs to mitigate inteference. Home systems are less...

You have no idea what you are talking about, but that certainly doesn't keep you from blabbing.

You're not an "integrator" or even just a professional installer. You should stop lying and spreading bad advice; you are doing a disservice to people for no reason other than you want some...

Your point about the surface area of the copper wire for audio signals is intriguing. Can you expound on it?

Until your speaker cable runs get into the hundreds of feet long territory pushed at very high volume you would not audibly hear a volume and/or sound quality difference with the same amp set at the...

12awg doesn't fit well in distributed auto gear, and you need much bigger holes in your structural lumber for larger bundles on wire.

This is why you don't let just anyone install / run wires. They don't know better. It doesn't hurt anything to go bigger. Even with a 8 foot run. 14awg to 12awg was a massive gain in volume. Might...

That is exactly the one! Down to the URL code. What is odd is that only one store near me (Tustin, CA) has it for $18.35. If you select any other store, it is $35.25. It is extreme YMMV but...

Soooo many people suggesting 12awg as overkill. And it might be. But if the option to an upgrade (exceedingly common) is ripping out all the walls and replacing all the wires with 12awg in the...

Depends how expensive an AVR you want and whether you want it to be running a whole bunch of zones. (One of the benefits might be saving on a high end power conditioner that everything is plugged...
