You will not get a refund - you will get a credit in your son's name that only he can / must use within a year of the original booking.

Just buy the tickets for your wife and yourself.
You'll have "add companion" option in your reservation starting Jan 6. Once the pass is active in your account on Jan 6, you can book another ticket...
