You should go into your devices themselves (PC and NAS) and set them to use a static IP address. You should also be able to set your router to only assign IP addresses within a range. I would set...

Sorry I missed that. I would suggest setting it to 192.168.0.2 or similar. Home network equipment, and the standard "192.XXX.XXX.XXX" range are considered class c networks, and should always have a...

I'm not seeing the $1 coupon, so either it's dead or targeted at this point. I still bought one at $13.49 because I've been needing to pick up a switch, but heads up for others...

This is just an outright lie, it's 4.8 stars. I have the 8 port version in my house and bought more for other homes I was setting up. Never an issue.

First sentence in my post - I purchased the managed 8-port version. The powerline is unmanaged - just passing the signal from the router to the switch. If I leave the switch at...

You may need to clarify here, the switch in the OP shouldn't have an IP, it's unmanaged, are you using something else, and/or is that the powerline device you mentioned? Generally mixing subnets...

Ignore that other guy. Sounds like he doesn't understand networking well. Of course an improperly configured 2nd router would cause issues. Anything done wrong causes issues. But it's incredibly easy...

These are great to add extra ports behind a TV or media center for those handful of devices you would prefer to be hardwired. Good deal!

This seems like a better deal. Gives you 7 usable ports as opposed to the 4 on the posted deal.

You are correct, and you should not need any manual configuration. If your power is up, your router will assign the IPs. But say your power (and router) goes down - the IPs assigned on your UPS...

Okay, thanks for clarifying. You should get very close to the speed of the first router going through the switch. Most of these simple unmanaged switches will get very close to their rated speeds. I...

Just think of a switch as a splitter. Kind of. You will want it to be router > powerline in > powerline out > switch >> desktop and NAS, with the desktop, switch, and NAS on UPS. Should the power...

Read my previous reply to TodayOnly. I would highly recommend eliminating the 2nd router and replacing it with a switch, of any port capacity. Switches are dumb, they just take traffic between A and...
