Thank you for that tid-bit. I've heard HDD max out around 160 MB/s, and others say they can do the full 500 MB/s. What's your experience? I'd rather go with the HDD than solid state if possible...

USB naming is so messy and stupid its often impossible for the average person to keep track of it all. 3.0 is now renamed as 3.2 Gen 1 and has a speed of 5 Gbps. This means you basically don't want...

I've been trying to research a replacement external hard drive to see which is the fastest without upgrading my 2018 laptop, which only has USB 3.0 ports. Any advice? I'm basically just backing up...

Well I got the 500 gig and I love it it's so small you plug it in the back of the PC in the USBC and you can do your time shift backups drop all your isos all that rest of that s*** and never even...

Is this decent for storing Xbox and Playstation games?

This will work fine but if your looking for long term storage just go HDD as you will get more space for your money.

Based on the info I've read, if your looking for long term storage your better off just buying a HDD since you won't need the fast read and write times. Since your most likely loading the files once...

I'm guessing the data will be safe for at least 3 years -- I doubt it would last 10. If you want something to put in storage and it's not a lot of data, use Bluray discs.

I got the 2tb version during the last sale to use as an external storage for the Xbox. It's ridiculously slow... Go for the x8 as the speeds are not only faster but more consistent.

I've been wondering the same. I think whether it be ssd or hd, we have to use it a few times a year or the electronics goes haywire.

I would say, go for SSD. I have had a slow HDD which I used for occasional backups. It was good for few years but one day all of sudden hhd drive started making clicking noise and the device died...
