It's data mining you is all, and in some cases if you block that function it renders the TV unusable or at least the smart apps. There's ways around it. Just depends on how thick your tinfoil hat is.

Just got this for my folks. It works great. the local best buy had it sandwiched in between a 389.00 55 and 529 65 with no pricing on it. 4K apps on android have been working well. for the price...

Yes any streaming box / stick works just fine. Android os isn’t buggy like people think.
The issue is that these budget TVs don’t have the onboard memory to keep up with the android os.

Got it set up today, overall, pretty good for price. Chromecast is a bit glitchy, had to restart tv and reinstall Hulu a couple times, but the other 5-6 apps I installed worked fine. Picture quality...
