Just received my xelsis today. Yes I experienced a plastic smell. After about 10 or so hygieclean? cycles the smell was very faint. I don't smell much of anything now after making several drinks....

I think the directions tell you that you have to run water through the the frother 7 times and also make 5 espressos (use cheap non oily beans) before consuming. After that you should be good to go....
