The ads on the unlock screen are really a non-issue compared the the "Suggested for you" you get on the home screen of all versions.

Not really, but if you never connect it to wifi then it will never load itself with ads and thus never show you ads. I don't find lack of wifi to be a very big sacrifice seeing as how I can load it...

Good point. But going from a cell phone to kindle is better than this petty arguing over whether to get this gen or that gen. Either is a sound improvement and $50 is the slicker deal
