That's messed up. One could purchase another from Lowes, get Hisense to help you with your broken one and then return the unused one back to Lowes.

that seems unlikely, i have never heard of the one yr mfr warranty required by law on most products being dependent on who sold it. sounds fishy, maybe the typical sd user error.

It depends mostly on the compressor efficiency, and the fact that the compressor heat of this kind of unit stays inside the room/house, whereas with a mini-split, it is of course outside the house....
