They now offer both CMR and SMR drives in everything but Black drives. But who is to say they wouldn't in the future? So you really have to read the spec sheets before buying anything from WD.

For RAID use, SMR is extremely risky. According to one test I saw it can take 15x as long for the RAID to rebuild after a failed drive. That leaves you with a lot of exposure for a second failed...
