Optical is trash and can’t even pass through Dolby Digital Plus, much less Atmos. You’re not getting good sound if you’re running a soundbar through optical.

Optical can’t pass through Dolby Digital Plus or Atmos. You have to use up one of the two HDMI ports for ARC in order to get decent sound from a soundbar.
