Just strapped the 500 lumen kit to my lectric xp 2.0, it does the job, I'm satisfied at this price, seems higher quality too.

Paired with the Niterider helmet mount, and I really do not notice it. It is light. I read a bunch of reviews on this same topic, and do not regret getting it.

If you are that worried carry an USB battery pack, strap it to the frame, and plug it in while riding. At only 300lm I wouldn't want this as a dedicated night light anyway. It is more of a daytime...
