It says 1L (34 oz) on the kettle box and in the User Manual. The carafe is quite small (a little over 300 ml or 10.14 oz. The User Manual contains descaling instructions (with water and vinegar).

Ehh, not entirely true. Even if boiling only water in the kettle, if the water is very hard depending on where you live, it could eventually develop calcium or lime deposits inside the kettle...
