I use soldering tip to melt and close the hole. Even if you dry well it will get moldy just like your bathtub caulking.

At times I wish they make a big hole instead for easy cleaning or at least easily dumping out the water. I did cut a big hole in one of the duck, it didn't work so well after. It got super dirty...

Be sure to check any water squirty toys for black water/mold before using them again. It's nearly impossible to get all the water out, if you even remember to empty them, and you might be surprised...
