For context (yes I know there's no time machine). I was able to get the warrantied US version of lens at $535 with an .edu address from adorama a year ago. Beautiful lens that pretty much lives...

Yeah I don't understand what shenanigans are going on, but it's been on the US site wavering between $490 and $510 for a few days. I just got it in the mail today and it's definitely a brand new lens.

I have the 85, so it's great to hear they're in the same league. I'm still waffling on the old 50/1.8... I've heard very meh things, but it's also so cheap.
