We use seventh generation free and clear dish soap plus a GUM denture brush. I feel better about not putting something in my mouth that may or may not have chemical residue on it.

I used to use cleaner products like this for my nightguards. I figured out all you need is to rinse it with water and scrub it with an old toothbrush every morning after use. Never starts to smell.

Toothbrushes are fine, it's the toothpaste that's bad. It's abrasive and damages the surface. Brush them using the denture cleaner.
