Depends but from experience 6-8 months. However we have ours right next to our litterboxes and they pick up a lot of the dust. In addition we have this running 24/7 on max because of said litter...

I had a similar problem with a refurb where the filter use timer hadn't been reset, even though it came with a new filter. You can just reset the timer with a paperclip, it doesn't actually measure...
