read enough about this function and you'll realize how hard it is on your oven - i stopped using it. actually ended up using this stuff and it did a great job.

I agree! Self cleaning gets to about 700 degrees and can fry the boards and will definitely loosen up the glues holding on the face plates.

Actually, it is a good idea to purchase a self-cleaning oven and NOT use the feature because of the ultra high temps. The ovens are more sturdy and better insulated.
