Have you tried stablebit drive pool? you can just add drives and tell it how many copies you want and it will re organize the files across the drives. Logically it just looks as one huge drive,

You may paying a premium for large drives. You may also prefer to backup to smaller drives so if they fail you don't loose everything.

I bought 2 of these 1.5 weeks ago, but am seriously thinking about getting another 2. Got 2 18tb ones on prime day for $299.99 each. But this isn't a bad deal by any means.
