They should. I had a buddy who primarily gamed on linux. Specifically Arch Linux builds and he didn't have any problem using a standard controllers that were compatible with Windows/x-input

I'd personally rate them about equal on balance, since the Pro 2 is more versatile. But the Switch pro controller has a few things this doesn't if you're only playing on switch.. -Wakes switch...

Tradeoffs. On the basic side of things, 8bitdo Pro has paddles and better d pad for most users. 8bitdo is also cheaper, a lot more customizable, and works across many platforms.
