Not sure about that with an iPhone. Think they have a filter. Usually can't see IR on remotes with an iPhone. Android, yea usually works fine.

Thermal is just lower frequency/longer wavelength IR. This is just the same CMOS sensor you'd find in your cell phone or a digital camera, only w/o the IR filter in the way. That's why you need an...
