Look for one with an ABC rating, not just BC. Mount it away from inaccessible or fire-prone areas, not in a closet or under the sink.

The "HOME10" versions used to go on sale for $10-14, if I'm not mistaken. Those should be A-B-C. I believe they had 10 year or lifetime warranty and were able to be re-filled/ re-pressurized.

Costco has 5 lb First Alert 3A40BC for $30, though only at the warehouse. Says it "Meets OSHA, DOT and the Bureau of Motor Carriers Standards. USCG Approved". It's also rechargeable.
