Really don't need the heavier stuff here in Florida. Can always layer up if you need to. Get the best cotton sheets that you can for the money.

No easy answer but often the 100% cotton cover comforters start at $50 and go up to $250 depending on whether it's poly or feather/down fill.
I've never seen one for much less.

You can but comforters designed for a duvet cover have a strip of fabric (or similar) that allows you to secure each corner to the corner of the duvet cover to prevent shifting.
I won't buy duvet...

These run VERY small and they have almost no stuffing in them.
They also start to fall apart after a few washes.

Polyester cover is very bad - is a plastic made from petroleum.
Cotton is the way to go - natural plant.
