It looks like that is for 'Workspace Individual' plans, which are different from regular "free" personal accounts. Those appear to cost $8+/month and are marketed to those who want some business...

Correct about the 15GB quota. That covers Drive as well as Gmail storage. (That warning you see as you approach the limit shouldn't be ignored.)
A great option (IMHO) for photo backup is Mega.nz....

It depends on what type of account you have ; on the business paid plans there’s no parsing through files, on consumer accounts they do. I have one of the free plans for domains that they offered...
