That set is their budget set, which are all made in India from what the employee said. The 4 star is their mid tier, made in Germany. You can usually tell by the logo.

Blade steel is supposed to be exactly the same. But the design on these newer ones is slightly different near the bolster area. Otherwise, handle is the only difference.

Shun's are prone to chipping depending on the use. German steels are softer (below 60 on the Rockwell rating)and a simple honing rod will get them back into shape after using them breaking up...
