I do have both Seagate 5tb and WD 5tb portables. And you have a good point about removing the drive from seagate, and then putting it in PC to recover data. Thankfully I have not had any problems...

Exactly, if you broke the USB port on a WD, you are dead dead. If you have a Seagate, good chance you can save your data easily.
