We have this for the door to our water boiler to keep dog hair out and it works very well. I would suggest to get the white version so it's less noticeable. Been over a year and no issues yet.

Adhesive on the door, plastic probably yellows over time. I'll stick with my design, an old sheet braided and stuck in the door gap (only works on wood floors)

Wondering if you really want a DIY project cut a 3/8" thick sound absorber pad into strips to paste at the bottom. Probably a bit too much work for the benefit but would help with the sound issues.

Another option is to use foam pipe insulation from Home Depot. I just tried an old 1/2" piece on the door of my new fixer house. It worked perfectly! The foam comes split and has peel-off plastic...
