Perhaps that varies by season? We went to 4 or 5 beaches there in April and nary a flea at any one of them, and we brought towels back to our rooms!

I'll 2nd Aruba... Great place, friendly people, safe, lots to do or just relax the entire time.
And drinking the water is safe. :)
