I agree, I have a sliding miter saw and I never use it, mainly because it’s too heavy to take out from storage.

Don't go sliding unless you absolutely need the extra cut capacity it offers. Non-sliders are more accurate, take up much less space (to store and to use), are lighter, and are cheaper.
