I wouldn’t call taking a pan out of the oven and putting it on the stovetop an “extreme temperature variation”. This happened to me and is actually a common scenario under which the pans explode.

FYI it’s possible to get glass that says “pyrex” but lids that say “PYREX”. I just picked up a set at a yard sale last weekend at this is the case, so ALWAYS look at the lettering in the glass...

Unless it's made from borosilicate glass it's garbage. Most Pyrex made today is just tempered glass.
