I felt this way until I got to the first "ending" which was underwhelming. The 2nd and especially the third chapters/playthroughs are what ultimately got me.

I'm the same. I love a good hack and slash style of game, but didn't find much enjoyment in this one. Very repetitive and confusing at times.

The game play part is just like all platinum games (e.g. Bayonetta), it was a giant upgrade from the first nier game (which very few played), but honestly wasn't that outstanding even at the release....

One of my favorite games ever, I think if you don’t understand or like existential philosophy then much of this game will be lost on you. The gameplay on its own is quite engaging.

The anime of this game is currently airing but the game is still better and well worth playing through. It's one of the best games of the PS4 era.
