Do I also have to provide you a definition of “proper,” now? How about we just start with the word “recess:” There’s a recess in the back of the box, bro. It allows the outlet to rest...

Was going to post this. I would be very skeptical about purchasing charging plugs or power plugs that not were properly UL certified. Being cheap does not help when the device starts a fire in...

Ordered last month. Works great. Unscrew the outlet plate and removed, then plug this in and screw in with long screw provided. It sits flush and way nicer than the extension cord previously used.

I ordered this a month ago for the same price, and previously ordered a similar one a while ago. Both of them just fell straight out of the outlet with little provocation. The weight of any plugs is...

There is no obligation of NRTL tested stuff for private use hence no legal reason to deny coverage. That is if they can get to that level of detail. And there are many more electrical safety issues...

A pessimist is a well-informed optimist. I know a bit about NRTL system, unlike most people who preach UL without having any idea of what they actually are...

If my house burns down and the cause is a surge protector I purchased on the most popular e-commerce site in the country, my insurance company can say what they want. There isn’t anything in my...

Ordered one just to try it, like the idea of the screw, so it cannot be pulled out.

This one has the ability to remain flush against the wall without removing the plate. It has been discussed and is pictured in this thread. HTH.:peace:

You say that as if having an annoying always-on light in my room when I want to sleep is a automatic plus. Will pay extra for no night light.

Because listening to "SAtaNiCpAnIc"s conspiracy theories is way more legitimate right? 🤡

Probably not the best idea to trust your home to a random name generator chinese product. Not saying all Chinese products are bad, but when they are from a company I can’t even pronounce/nonsensical...

It is probably a better choice these days. Means manufacturer doesn't have to cut production cost to keep pricing even. Meeting the latest version of NFPA code with AFCI breakers would be a much...

It means that it should be able to fit over the wall plate and still be flush to the wall. Typically, with these types of outlet expanders you have to remove the wall plate in order for it to be...

I don't understand the title of this listing. Recessed doesn't mean flush, and this thing is neither. It protrudes from the wall, as all outlet add-ons do. Recessed means it sits deeper than the...

… what? Some people live in apartments. I don’t know anything about breakers or AFCI or whatever. A surge protector just seems like a bad thing to buy from some Chinese company no one’s ever...

Are you on the payroll for this company? Your passion is disturbing. I’m not an electrician. I simply know that a product having a UL listing is better than not having one.

Just say no to any brand that looks like they just threw a bunch of letters at a wall and picked the letters that bounced back the farthest.

I actually want something like this for my garage, but it's more of a metal box that sticks out from the wall. I just want a safe one. Amy suggested brands or models?

There’s too much fuss in this thread about UL. This is etl certified. And is a Well known certification. ETL does not create their own standards for certification, but only makes sure that products...

I know many of these wall outlet/charger posts have become common on SD as of late, but I bought this one here and love the fact that it is one of the few (esp at this price) that has a recessed...

Well, the ones that aren't flush fitting, just don't look like a custom fit. The recessed back like this one in the OP, fits over your existing (standard, non-Decora) outlet cover and still looks...

Compliance doesn't equal safety, and safety doesn't equal compliance. Let's do a quick check - apparently you care about compliance, but do you have AFCI breakers installed? If not, you don't care...

So you don't care about safety, only about compliance. That's what I thought from the start.

Thanks, not the case this time though. I refinished my whole basement with my dad and we did all the electrical ourselves, no secret switches. It's a weird short where if I plug anything into it...

Is it even smart buying an outlet that's not UL listed?
Post #162220915 added 03-10-2023 6:03 AM by gordgeck in Deal Talk
Good luck explaining that to your insurance company when the house burns down. I mean use your exact "logic", hey brah, it is better to buy non UL listed. Betcha they cut you a check that day.
