I agree with boost most likely having the best plan at $10/month for 2gb of 5g. I was going to get this unlocked but figure I might as well just leave it with boost for the time being.

Without having much information to go on my first guess would be the SIM you're using may not allow hotspot traffic. Not every SIM is provisioned to work in a hotspot. .
