True. But, I’m using easily a 1/3 less chlorine than I used to use. Since I do all my own pool maintenance I’ve found that the combo of the ionizer and just a bit of chlorine is the perfect combo....

Yes, salt went up, but its still only 7 or 8 bucks per 40 lbs bag. It takes a dozen or two bags to convert a pool from scratch, but then only a couple or few bags a year to maintain.

I was going to buy the floater last year then realized it needs a 20 mins cleaning every 2 weeks. That's extra work I don't want to really do since I only use liquid bleach, I dump it and I'm done.
