I am left handed and I throw a right hand retrieve I think it’s because I throw it left handed and my right hand is free to retrieve. And my left arm sets the hook.

Yeah it's pretty confusing the way they list them honestly. I can't figure out why I'd want to cast with my right hand, then switch hands before reeling in. Seems awkward to me.

I think it depends on the type of fish your going for. If you were to catch a really big fish and need to use the rod to crank up and reel in on the way down. Your dominant hand will play a big part

It goes both ways. You can only reel so fast, but you can go infinitely slower. That’s why honestly either of these ratios will work for 95% of fishing techniques

You really can't go wrong with a 6.x:1 or 7.x:1 gear ratio. 6.x:1 used to be the 'standard' middle of the road gear ratio, but now 7.x:1 tend to be.
