I am left handed and I throw a right hand retrieve I think it’s because I throw it left handed and my right hand is free to retrieve. And my left arm sets the hook.

Yeah it's pretty confusing the way they list them honestly. I can't figure out why I'd want to cast with my right hand, then switch hands before reeling in. Seems awkward to me.

Not sure why you think these reels are only good for certain types of fishing? I use my Diawa Tatulas spooled with 30lb braid and fish for pike, walleye, bass, and catfish on the same day. The only...

I think it depends on the type of fish your going for. If you were to catch a really big fish and need to use the rod to crank up and reel in on the way down. Your dominant hand will play a big part

Not sure if they make them like they used to but my dark green Curado must be at least 30 years old and still going strong.

You made some valid points. But, please give spinning gears another chance once you expand from bass fishing to other fish types like sunfish, crappie, trout etc. smaller ones, and inshore and surf...

I didn't know what the big deal was with right handed reels until I found out that I was already casting a right handed reel with my left hand since I first started. It is way more natural and once...

If your already pushing the thumb release with your right hand during a cast , how far are you really moving your right hand to retrieve? You guys are talking like switching hands is like this big...

It goes both ways. You can only reel so fast, but you can go infinitely slower. That’s why honestly either of these ratios will work for 95% of fishing techniques

You really can't go wrong with a 6.x:1 or 7.x:1 gear ratio. 6.x:1 used to be the 'standard' middle of the road gear ratio, but now 7.x:1 tend to be. With that said, I'd go with the 7.4:1 over...

Thank you, so basically higher gear ratio is only for speed of retrieval. Lower would technically be better because you could always crank faster for retrieval, but you could do more techniques with...

Some swimming baits you want to reel in slower to give the fish more time in the strike zone. This can be achieved by reeling slower but some people like to reel at their normal pace and have the...

Depends on what kind of fishing you're looking to do, whether you're casting from shore, off a jetty or from a boat, how much drag you need, etc. This isn't necessarily a bad reel, but it needs...
