Been tough deciding on this or the 5800x 3d but the 5950 will last you for many years if you need a multipurpose system for gaming and productivity. So pulled the trigger on this to top off my am4...

If interested, for comparison, my 5950 with the Arctic 360 AIO runs 38C (~100F) at idle (room temp 78F) and a Cinebench23 10minute run yields avg temp of 85C (during test), No throttling and PBO...

You definitely would need to upgrade but you don’t need to go AIO. I run mine fine with a Noctula air cooler. System 76 also runs these and the 7950’s with noctulas

Which peerless assassin did you get? There’s different ones and some of them cool better than others. I have a friend with a 5900x when under load it never gets above 60 with his.

The 5950x runs cooler than most of the 5000 series stack, especially at 100% load.

I'm running a 5950x with Noctua DH-15 and it does run hot, but this is true if you had a AIO. The chip is meant to run at 90c at full wattage. What I did was undervolted the processor and limit it to...

I'm running a peerless assassin on my 5900x and it is in the upper 60s with 25-30% usage. Not too much worse than the 280mm rad I'd been using on it prior. Its a lot more heat than the 3800x I...

It doesn't run too hot in my opinion. You just need a decent air cooler or liquid aio. I idle at 40 degrees celcius and hit between 68-79 celsius gaming in a nr200 with a Noctua C14S cooler.

I run this with a large air cooler no problem. You don’t need a water cooler for this.
