I totally agree, but in the long term I figure this might last longer and the Costco return policy makes the cost a little more palatable. 🥴

Thanks for the heads up, I can keep it as a backup and toy around with this firmware. I wasn’t sure the old r7000 was compatible, but I guess so! With Volex, would you suggest returning to the stock...

A lot more expensive though. That's $280 even after the $70 member discount.

Gonna take a look. I want to wire main eero to my Asus, and only let eero handle wireless networks, rest by my Asus.

Not that I know of. Eero ecosystem is a closed one. Can't access any of the devices directly. You need to always go through the eero app. If someone knows otherwise, I'm all ears. That might work...

Can't you just run these bridged to a router if you have one? That way, coverage from eero, options from router. Plan on doing that with my AC68U, great router still, but AiMesh sucks for me.

I grabbed a 3 pack for $99. Figured better to get it and then return it if I change my mind - than to regret not ordering it.

I’ve never heard of Volex firmware, currently the r7000 is running dd-wrt. It’s just gotten older and sadly the number of devices in the home is taking its toll, suppose I’m lucky it last 10+ years.
