It looks like the main difference between this and the Z690 is that the 790 supports up to 96gb ram. Not sure if there are any other differences.

What about the gigabyte z790i in this post vs the asus z690i? From what I understand, to the average user z690 and z790 are pretty close but the gigabyte seems like a much slicker deal price wise
