I have an older model and this is not correct. If you plug it in prior to turning it on it does not run off the battery and runs off USB power.

I bought mine back in Nov 2016, the original. Still charges and still puts out just fine. I wouldn't have bet it would be operational past 3 or 4 years, but now, in 2023, it shows you the battery...

Yes, if they are sufficiently sensitive. It's not about the quality or size of the speakers, it's just about sensitivity. Look for a sensitivity spec above 88 dB or so for this amp.
