I have had the 5mp version with 6 cams for like 5 years. Absolutely no issues at all. Never used the motion detection but have had no hardware issues.

For the 800 notifications come from the NVR i think. Personally I think camera bundles with NVR should be a bit more cost effective since the cameras could be dumb and cheap and all the motion...
