Not being able to afford heating costs is very much a timeless problem.

Technically yes. Which is why you’d set the temp upstairs higher than normal since it’s probably already warmer than it is where the thermostat is. Once you see all the temps in Every room, you’ll...

As long as my main thermostat has had a charge, I haven’t run into this issue.

Thanks, I didn't even notice that option.

Why not just find out which room is hottest/coldest and go from there? Seems pretty wasteful to have 6 of them.

Dumb question. I have split units, so it wouldn’t work with it but I also have a heating system with moving heat. I have a smart thermostat that controls the heat on it. Can I use these and a...

Not saying they are useless or what ecosystem you are in but you can get used HomePod Minis pretty cheap and they have a temperature sensor.
Post #166394401 added 10-14-2023 4:44 PM by whenitalkispark in Deal Talk
And they connect to my nest thermostat to allow me to control it based on where the homepod mini is?

Your kid can't use another blanket? When I was a kid, if I was cold, I just grabbed another blanket. sheesh

I have 6 of these. I use them to both control specific, occupied, rooms AND to monitor the differences in temperature between them. Being I mainly occupy one room at a time, I schedule it to cool the...

Known issue unfortunately; had it happen three times. It doesn’t always occur with power outages but tbf we did have like 22 outages over 1hr and then another 2.5hr outage. Love the tx power grid

How do I check the temperature? I guess it connects to the Home app somehow?
Post #166389658 added 10-14-2023 10:36 AM by FireDrogon in Deal Talk
Yes it shows up as one of the climate devices in the app.

I found these sensors being little outdated. In home automation, you cant get reading of each thermostat or sensors separately. So cant use it with HA.

Nest app will no longer work after Apr 8th of 2024 so these will be useless. Somebody correct me if i'm wrong.
Post #166408234 added 10-15-2023 5:40 PM by h0va4life in Deal Talk
No that means they are very current- these days once a company gets a decent following, they will then lock up devices so you can’t use it in another ecosystem.

Nest Secure and drop cam lose support in April. The thermostat is not losing support. If they drop the Nest app they will move the functionality into Google Home. None of that implies these sensors...

I was skeptical of these but they actually work well.

Care to expand upon that opinion? I was looking into these since my kid's room runs colder in the winter, but don't want to spend money on something that's useless. Thanks in advance.

I somewhat agree. I have 2 bedroom and livingroom. I am forced into predetermined time frames where a sensor will be used. These times are not good for me and likely not good for others. You are...

Not useless. The thermostat is typically located somewhere that you may not spend most of the time at home. So that temp may differ in different rooms. So these units help maintain the temp in those...

I have one of these in my office and one in my bedroom - very helpful to show the difference in temps in those rooms vs the thermostats. CR2 batteries last maybe 2-3 years - so keep this in mind.

I use mine extensively. I have one in my basement which tracks about 7 degrees cooler. When I have guests over I can set the thermostat to follow that sensor to keep it more comfortable. I also have...

What happens when you have one upstairs when it is warmer? Does your AC kick on and get to that temp, and thereby making the lower floor colder than desired? Wondering if this works better for 2 zone...

How do these work? Do you need multi zone HVAC? Can a Nest really control a standard system room by room?

If you want that level of control, Ecobee is a lot more flexible. Group different rooms, for specific times of day, switching at whatever time you tell it. Ecobee's biggest downside is that if you...

It’s not useless at all. Got one of these when my kid was around 1 year old. His room is always like 3 degrees warmer than where thermostat is. Wife says he’s sensitive to temperature so I got her...
