Might be better served with an HDD for file storage. But ya it'll work fine. For the vast majority of users the speed of gen3 is just fine

The PCIe specs are backwards compatible; you can put Gen 4 SSDs into Gen 3 motherboards.

TBW is a warranty period, how long it actually lasts depends on the kind of writes, large sequential less bad. I'm sure it has a write life on par with most qlc memory.
TLC is better of course,...

Its fine, large writes hurt least. That being said if you slam this drive when almost full its going to slow down big time on writes, shouldn't matter too much for media though.

Waiting to get a fast but reliable Gen3 NVMe for a daily laptop (OS+storage). How should we choose between this Intel 670p versus SK Hynix Gold P31?

Some say the Intel SSD reliability is an issue. I just wanna add I have 10+ various intel SSDs including some very old 2.5" 180GB SSDs - all fine till today. None died.
This is probably the best...

Those are pretty old drives with old technology. It's natural they would be less reliable than something made today. Can hardly compare old to current technology.
